[ANYWAY, SOMETIME LATER, AKECHI IS IN THE KITCHEN. . . with an ice pack pressed against his bruised face. he looks rough, holy shit]

[ varian walks into the kitchen for a snack and freezes upon seeing akechi. then he notices the bruises and... ]

[his reply is equally as deadpan, the awkwardness between them evaporating for just a moment]

An impressive and correct guess.

[ varian's collar is always popped because that's just how his shirt be, but he lowers it to show off the blue finger shaped bruises around his own neck. they're harder to see between the height of his collar and the color of it, but after five days the marks are still very stark according to this webmd chart ]

Though I don't know what you did to get Yasasuda mad, too.

[yike. Akechi just. . . looks kind of wry at Varian's neck bruises. this sucks]

Your sudden ability to restrain yourself when it comes to that would've come in handy last week, though. [ just. listen. he can't let akechi live. ] I should've taken a page from your book and framed Shirasu, since he went on a rampage anyway, instead of, of keeping it vague.

Yes, yes. . . I'm aware that I perhaps should have kept Eichi in the dark, even after he confessed that he killed Fane-san to me.

[too late for that tho. yikes. anyway, he's pulling the ice pack from his face and holding it out to Varian. do you. . . need it too. . .]

Shirasu-san was attempting to reach Tiger-san's ending. [aha] But hindsight is 20/20. We know that now, but didn't know it at the time we planned our crime.

I knew someone was, I said so! [ both vindicated and annoyed at being right: the varian life. he makes a face at akechi ] I could've still framed someone. It's not like adding fingerprints to the objects, or, or using a recognizable handwriting would've been hard.
